The best gift I ever gave was a Blu-Ray player ... let me tell you the story!

About 2 weeks before Christmas (2 years ago) I entered a contest and the day after, I got an email saying that I won the Blu-Ray player!! I was shocked to say the least, but BEYOND excited! I gave my info, and then asked if I could ship it to my Mom's house, as I didn't want my husband to suspect a THING! (We open gifts at Mom's house anyway.) The prize came just a few days after I sent in my info! I had my Mom wrap it up and put it under the tree. Christmas came and my husband was completely confused by this HUGE box with his name on it. He saved it for last, and when he finally opened it, he was speechless! All he could do was smirk, turn the box to the specs side, and smirk even bigger!

When we got home, I asked what he thought, and he said, "It's great, but how did you manage it?!" I told him that I had to be able to make great things happen, and I have to keep my ways of letting those great things happen to myself!

Secrets are great, aren't they?! I LOVE surprises, but I am horrible at keeping secrets! I am so glad I was able to keep that one from my husband (although, I told everyone else I knew so that I wouldn't tell him)!

What's the best gift you ever gave, and why was it so great?!

Butter Bell® Crock Review & Special Offer

FIRST: Let me start off by saying that life has gotten SO crazy around here! So, ACT QUICK for your special offer:

For every two Butter Bell crocks that you purchase, you get a free crock. Go to www.butterbell.com and use the key word "Butter Bell crock". The offer runs through Dec. 15th, 2010 (Tomorrow, I know, I am SO sorry!)

Ok, so now that you know that you have to be SUPER quick in getting your Butter Bell ordered, let me tell you a little about them!

Butter Bell® crock is a brand name of butter crocks owned and distributed by L. Tremain. We are the brand leader and largest seller of butter crocks in the US, with many styles and colors to choose from.

Product Description from Butter Bell:
A modern version of the original French butter crock, the Original Butter Bell® crock allows butter to be kept at room temperature, on the counter or tabletop, for up to 30 days without spoilage, refrigeration or odors. Made from New Bone China, the highest quality ceramics available, the Butter Bell crock insures that under reasonable, correct usage, butter storage time can be up to 30 days. Most Butter Bell users consume a crock’s worth of butter within one week.

The unique design keeps butter at the perfect “spreading” consistency by reflecting outside heat while insulating and cooling the butter. Flavor and freshness is protected by an airtight seal of water at the base of the crock.

The Butter Bell crock holds up to one full stick (1/2 cup) of butter. Softened butter is packed firmly into the bell-shaped cup of the lid. Cold water is poured into the base of the crock. The lid is then placed upside down back into the base of the crock. Soft, spreadable butter may be enjoyed and served right from the crock. Proper maintenance: Water should be changed out every three days. Replace existing water in the base with fresh, cold water.

Benefits:

- They are SUPER cute!

- Your butter is ready to use when you want to use it. (Which is awesome and so convenient!)

- It holds one stick of butter!

- It's dishwasher safe!! (This is by FAR my favorite part!)

How do you use the Butter Bell? Check this out! They are so easy - wash it, add water to the base and butter to the top!

So, do I have you convinced?! Remember, You can buy the Butter Bell online for about $22.95 (but, don't forget about the buy 2, get one free special mentioned above!).

How do I feel about the Butter Bell? I really like it. It's so great to be able to reach over on the counter and have butter already at room temperature! It makes it so easy to butter toast or make cookies or whatever your "butter need" may be!

What would I change? I wish it were easier to set it (butter side up) on the counter, but other than that, NOT A THING!

We Caught Santa!!

Every year since I can remember my Uncle dressed up as Santa and "appeared" in the bar closet at my Grandma's house. We (sadly) don't get to see my Uncle as often as I'd like to. Last year, he agreed to meet at my sister's house so that he could be Santa for my kids! However, he forgot his beard (STUPID move, I know!) so he used a Hannah Montana wig (which was in the house because my niece had one) as his beard. J was 5 and he KNEW it was Uncle J, so after that he started with the "Santa isn't real" bit. We talked about it, and then I found a REALLY COOL site, iCaughtSanta.com, and knew that I had to do that to help "prove" to J that Santa DOES exist!

I was BEYOND thrilled with the quality of the picture and how easy it was!

All you do is take a picture of your living room after Santa has come, upload your photo to iCaughtSanta.com and insert Santa into the photo using one of there many options!

The cost is usually $9.99 per picture (but really, it's a priceless memory for you and your kids!), however, I have a SPECIAL 25% off coupon code for you!!

Enter: MONKEY-MAYHEM at check-out to get 25% off of your order!!

Now, for the REALLY exciting news?! iCaughtSanta.com has given me the opportunity to give FIVE (yes, 5!) of my readers a code for a FREE picture!

GIVEAWAY!

SmartKnitKIDS Review & Giveaway!!

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

Have you heard of SmartKnitKIDS? I have followed them on twitter for quite some time, but I only just got to try their socks for the first time recently!

I love the socks - they are thick, warm, they don't have any seems for tiny toes to get "caught" in, they have no heel so kids can put them on without needing help, they come in different "styles" (crew, ankle and knee-high), and they come in five colors (pink, blue, white, purple and black)!!

Things I might change or do differently: I would add more colors - or at least green! And, I would add rubber gribs so that kids don't slip in the socks (though, that might defeat the purpose of the SmartKnitKIDS being heel-less).

J loved the socks as I thought he would! He loves socks - colors, prints, you name it - he thinks they are fun!
C also enjoyed the socks! He could (mostly) get them on by himself. But, he doesn't really like shoes so he kept slipping! So, we took the socks off so he wouldn't crack his head open!
I loved them because they have the size "stamped" on the bottom of the socks!! The Mom in me thinks that is so practical!

From SmartKnitKIDS:

SmartKnitKIDS Socks are 100% truly seamless; they have “No Seams to Bug Ya!” A truly seam free sock is great for kids with Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, or for those who simply cannot stand annoying sock seams. As well as being completely seamless, our socks are also form-fitting. This ensures that there are no wrinkles or bunches. A form-fitting design makes SmartKnitKIDS perfect for infant socks. No matter how much your little one may wiggle, the socks don’t come off. SmartKnitKIDS Seamless Socks do not have a heal so they can easily and confidently be slipped on. The heal-less design also keeps your child from out growing their socks as fast. For more information about SmartKnitKIDS, please visit us online at http://www.smartknitkids.com/.

GIVEAWAY!

Main Entry: Visit SmartKnitKIDS and tell me which ONE pair of socks you would pick for your kiddo!!

My Ultimate Family Vacation!!

Sponsored By

Cheerios® is giving you the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, your ultimate family vacation. As part of a paid promotion for their “Do What You Love” Sweepstakes, Cheerios® is sponsoring my post today about what my ultimate family vacation would be. Read mine, Enter the Sweepstakes for a chance to actually win your own fantasy family trip or one of a bunch of other great prizes.

If I could go absolutely anywhere on an ultimate family vacation, I would rent a vacation house boat for a week!! Can you imagine how much fun that could be?! We would vacation on Lake Travis (near Austin, TX). And, we would have to have a huge boat, maybe this Tango Houseboat (assuming, of course, that there was no price limit)!!

It would be a vacation for the whole family - my husband, two kids and I. We would also bring my parents, sister and her fiance. If my husband's mom wanted to fly down from Washington, she would be more than welcome!! 8 or 9 people on a house boat - what a load of fun! :D

For things to do on this house boat ... board games, card games, swimming, and I would hope that there would be a slide off the house boat so we could slide into the water!!

What would you make for dinner if you were on a house boat? My only "for sure" meal would be spaghetti and meatballs!

Typing this up has given me the urge to take a vacation! I think my husband and I might take the kids camping in our backyard this weekend! :D

Don't forget to enter the “Do What You Love” Sweepstakes, for a chance to win your own ultimate family vacation. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

What's in a name?

My dad is not an "OLD" man ... well, you might think so if you are driving with or behind him, but he isn't old. He is, however, a Baby Boomer. Now, my question is, what is with the now-Grandpa Baby Boomers?! Dad decided that HE wanted the grandkids to call him "THE GEEZER" ... why, you ask?!

The Story:
My dad enjoys playing dominos - and before J was born, Dad would play once a week with 2 of his friend. My Grandma was visiting, and she called them "GEEZERS."

Some time passed, and J was about 2 years old when Dad told me that he wanted to be called "The Geezer."

Now, I had MANY objections to this - but my main concern was that people would think that it was disrespectful to call this man a geezer. (Picture it): We are out and about, J says "HEY GEEZ(ER)!" (I mean it's not like GEEZER is a well-respected or nice name for old men.)

Anyway, I didn't have much say in the matter because he called himself Geezer, my Mom called him Geezer (and now you will find her calling him Geez instead of his REAL name! LOL!) ... J picked it up and now C calls him "EEZ" (because he can't get the G in there).

A friend of my Dad's has a grandchild about the same age as J. He wanted to be called "BIG DAVE" (and that's what he is called).

So, my question to you is why in the world do these baby boomer (men?) want to be called such weird and non-traditional Grandpa names?!

What do your kids call their grandparents??

Spooky Fun!!

I was given the opportunity to review a printables website, Python Printable Games - it has over 50 Halloween and Thanksgiving printables. I found a few that my six year old would absolutely love! I love trivia, so I really enjoyed those printables. But, I wasn't overly impressed with the characters/drawings on the pages. They were a little too sketchy for me. Don't get me wrong, there are some with cute art, just more that weren't really my taste. And, you may really like the art you find on these pages.

I reviewed: Food Fight! Thanksgiving Mad Libs, Printable Halloween Word Search Puzzles Pack of 3., Harvest What Word? Game, Get Stuffed Food Trivia, Pin the Head on the Monster, Teen Terrors Mad Libs ... to name a few. I looked at many, but I only printed Food Fight! Thanksgiving Mad Libs and Harvest What Word? Game.

Additionally, it will cost you $19.95 to access these 50+ printable games (crossword puzzles, coloring sheets, etc.). $19.95 will get you more than 50 printables for the holiday of your choosing. (Ex: EITHER Halloween or Thanksgiving, not both.) (CORRECTION: Every game in the Halloween pack is ALSO in the Thanksgiving pack. When I looked, it seemed as if they were separate packages.) It is my opinion that $19.95 is extreme. (If you search the internet for Halloween/Thanksgiving printables, you can find cuter things for free.) These printables are virus-free, as some you may find in a search won't be. And, if you are in a hurry, this is your best bet because they are all in one place.

You can search their site for "kids" "teens" or "adult" -specific games. And, they have more than just Halloween and Thanksgiving - they have birthdays, BBQs, Fun facts and Trivia!

However, if you are interested, they offer a full affiliate program via Share-a-Sale and commission is 35%.

You can find Printable Games on twitter.

Wholesale Keychain Review & Giveaway!!

Sponsored by Tomoson.com

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Battleship Keychain!! I was so excited to get the keychain because my husband collects them and this is one he doesn't have!

The Battleship Keychain is for ages 8+ and you can buy it for $6.99 here.

I found it a little difficult to get the lid off, but I think that's for good reason. (I mean, you don't want a lid that falls off with those pieces inside, do you?!)

I love that I can attach it to my purse strap and not worry about the lid falling off. It was so easy to use!

My husband and I took it to dinner one night, and played while we waited for our food - it was SO much fun!! I can't wait until the boys are old enough to play with us - TEAM Battleship?! :)

I browsed Wholesale Keychain and found TONS that I would love to add to my husband's collection!! (Can you guess where I will be going for stocking stuffers?!)

GIVEAWAY!!!

Main Entry: Visit Wholesale Keychain and tell me which ONE (yea, yea, I know, there are so many great ones) you would replace your current keychain with or add to your collection!

Quaker Oatmeal Squares

Ok, so I like oatmeal, but I don't LOVE it. Awhile ago I found Quaker Oatmeal Squares ... they were on sale, so I thought, "Why not?!" They were AWESOME! They have great texture, they don't get soggy (unless you don't eat them for 30 minutes!) and they are yummy!!

Now, I refuse to pay over $3.00 for a box of cereal (unless it's a 2-for-1 deal or a HUGE box). So when I found the Quaker Oatmeal Squares at Target ON SALE for 2/$5 (or $2.50 each) I was excited. I was MORE excited when I realized there is a current Target coupon for $1 off!! Too bad I didn't have a manu. coupon! But, $1.50 for a box of cereal is pretty good in my book!! Especially when everyone in my house will eat it! :)

Enjoy your day!

Strawlution Review & Giveaway!!

What comes to mind when you hear "Straw-lution"? When I told my husband that I was going to review the "Straw-lution" he said, "A WHAT?!" So I explained that it is basically a half of a straw with "wings"!

I got my straws in blue, since I have two boys! They LOVE them! We buy the little Danonino yogurts, and these straws were PERFECT for them!!

We have only used two of the twelve straws, since they are reuseable AND dishwasher safe! The thickness of the straw is terrific! C likes biting straws, and with these, he couldn't leave teeth marks!

While we have only used our straws at home, I think these will be such a great addition to any picnic or vacation! No more spills!

Some Straw-lution info:

The Straw-lution Straws will come in a package of 12 ($4.99). The Straw-lution Straw is appropriate for ages nine months to 90 years and minimizes the mess associated with eating pre-packaged small cup foods, such as baby food, applesauce, and drinking pre-packaged liquids. The unique length of the Straw-lution Straw (5 inches) is perfectly suited for child-sized cups and for individual containers of yogurt, applesauce, baby food... The shorter length when compared to a typical adult straw makes it easier for children to use. The Straw-lution Straw is the perfect solution for on the go snacks!

They are: BPA free - Made in the USA - Dishwasher safe

They come in from FOUR colors: Blue, Pink, Green or Yellow.

**NOTE** The Straw-lution Straw is not a toy and should be used only with adult supervision. The Straw-lution Straw is intended only for use as a feeding product, and children under 36 months should only be given the straw once it has been inserted into a beverage or food container. To prevent choking hazards, children under 36 months should never be allowed to play with the Straw-lution Straw by itself or to chew on the straw anchor tabs.

NOW, for some super news...
Straw-lution has generously provided a coupon code AND we are having a giveaway!!

Coupon code: SUPERSTRAW is good for 15% off your purchase at http://www.strawlution.com/ (valid from 4/29-5/21).

GIVEAWAY - TWO winners - one package of Strawlutions (your choice of color) each!!!

-Mandatory Entry:
** Tell me what color straw you would buy and what food/beverage you would try it with first!

-Extra Entries:
**Follow @Strawlution on twitter!
**"Like" Strawlution on facebook!
**Tweet the giveaway (once per day)

" I am entering @Doodle741 's @Strawlution giveaway!! http://mymonkeymayhem.blogspot.com/2010/04/strawlution-review-giveaway.html "

Country Bob's Review & Giveaway

I was given the opportunity to review Country Bob's BBQ sauce - they sent me TWO bottles of sauce. My first task was finding two recipes that I wanted to make since I am not much of a BBQ sauce lover. For the first dish, I created my own recipe:

Chicken breast - boneless, skinless - cut into cubes
Fresh green beans
Potatoes - cubed
1 bottle Country Bob's
1/2 cup of water

Put all of it in a Corningware dish and bake (I think it ended up cooking for about an hour on 350*).

I was not very impressed with this particular dish. I think the sauce was too sweet for it. Kid1 didn't like it at all. I had to bribe him to eat a reasonable amount of chicken. Kid2 LOVED the green beans(he always does) and ate a decent amount of chicken. The husband enjoyed all of it and went back for seconds. He said that it was the best meal I have cooked in a LONG time. (It could be that I am much more critical of my cooking than the rest of my family is.)
SO, about a week later, I decided to make Coke Chicken with the Country Bob's sauce!

Recipe:
Chicken (I used 3 chicken breasts and cut them in half down the center)
1/2 a bottle of Country Bob's BBQ sauce (I usually use 1/2 cup ketchup and 1/2 cup Heinz BBQ)
1 (12 oz) can of Coke

<-- Sauce and Coke. Mix it together in the skillet.
<-- Add the chicken.
<-- Cover with a lid and cook for 15 minutes on each side.
<-- Take it out of the pan and cut it up!
<-- I make it differently each time I make this - but on this occasion, I made rice and green beans to make a bowl.
I was SO MUCH happier with this dish than I was the first!! Everyone enjoyed it! The husband worked late, so he ate his chicken as a sandwich rather than on rice, but he still said it was good!!
Now, Country Bob's has GENEROUSLY provided me with TWO prizes, which means TWO winners!! :)
To enter:
*Mandatory: http://www.countrybobs.com/ and tell me what recipe you would like to try!
*Extra Entry:
- Follow @CountryBob on twitter
- Tweet (once per day)
I just entered to win @CountryBob 's Sauce from @Doodle741! http://tinyurl.com/yka3jzs
--> Please make sure you leave your email address so that I
can contact you if you win!!
The giveaway will end 3/26 at 11:59pm CST. I will pick a winner on 3/27 using random.org. Winner will have 48 hours to reply or I will pick a new winner. Thanks!
ENJOY!

My top 10 ways to get FIT after the Holidays!

1. Skip the soda - drink water and milk.
2. Park as far away from the front of the store as you can. You will have farther to walk, and burn more calories.
3. Move! Take the kids, husband and/or dogs out for walk in the park!
4. Rather than spend the money on a gym membership, buy a Wii and invest in the Wii Fit and the EA Active games. (You won't have to leave the house, so you can work out in your PJ's and save gas money!)
5. Take the stairs rather than the elevator or escalator!
6. Eat the pryamid! (All the fruits, veggies, etc you need!)
7. Get all the JUNK (food) out of your home - and don't bring it back!
8. When you go to the grocery store, make sure you have just eaten and take a list (STICK to it)!
9. Get the kids involved - teach them the good foods and let them help you cook.
10. You only get one body and one life - take care of it, so you can live it longer! :o)

Recently, I did a blog (on my personal blog) for how to put my kids to bed and keep them there. As a result, I won a St. Eve Kids' COZY! Well, actually, I won TWO! One for me to keep, and one to give away to one of my readers!

A Cozy is a warm, snuggly long blanket with sleeves.

To enter my giveaway:
1. Leave a comment about why you want to win and who you would give the Cozy to! (Please leave an email address or Twitter ID so I can contact you if you win!)
2. Follow me through Google Connect!

Thanks for swinging by! :)

Sara

PS: St. Eve Kids is giving parents the opportunity to win a year supply of pajamas! For information about that contest, visit http://www.dramau.com/.

I will draw a winner on Jan. 15, 2010!

***Edit: I forgot to mention that the Cozy is HOT PINK, sorry for any inconvienence!

We have a WINNER!! :) Random.org gave me #2 as the winner! (dstam, I will contact you!!)
